These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of BookSpace, including its book-planning, AI-assisted writing, editing, formatting, and file-delivery features. Please also read our Privacy Policy and Refund Policy.
Who We Are and Acceptance
BookSpace (“we,” “us,” or “our”) provides AI-assisted book-planning, writing, editing, formatting, and publishing-preparation services. For general inquiries, contact contact@bookspace.ai; for formal legal notices, contact legal@bookspace.ai.
By creating an account, purchasing a plan or credit package, submitting a project, or using features that require acceptance of these Terms, you agree to these Terms and the policies linked above. If you do not agree, do not use the service. If you use BookSpace for an organization, you confirm that you are authorized to bind that organization.
You retain rights in the materials you provide. As between you and BookSpace, you may use the output we produce for you, subject to applicable law and these Terms. You are responsible for checking, editing, and deciding whether and how to publish it.
Service Description and Production Workflow
BookSpace is a book-creation and publishing-preparation platform that plans and produces full-length manuscripts through a sequential seven-stage hybrid production workflow:
- AI Research and Synthesis: Analysis of your prompts, target audience, and uploaded source materials to build the book's factual foundation.
- AI Book Architecture: Structuring parts, chapters, character arcs, and detailed outlines before prose is drafted.
- AI Writing and Voice Alignment: Drafting chapter text with consistent tone, narrative continuity, and style.
- AI Editorial Refinement: Improving pacing, transitions, line-level clarity, and structural coherence.
- Human Review Checkpoint: Operational review by BookSpace staff checking formatting completeness, outline alignment, and production integrity before compilation.
- Typesetting and Export: Formatting the verified manuscript into professional publication layouts.
- Publication and Delivery: Delivering verified, publication-ready files (DOCX, PDF, EPUB, LaTeX, and PPTX where supported) directly to your workspace.
BookSpace may use AI systems and human operational review to prepare requested materials. Progress indicators are estimates of workflow status and are not a guarantee that a project will be completed by a particular time.
BookSpace provides files and tools to help you prepare a book. Unless expressly stated otherwise, BookSpace is not a publisher, bookstore, or distribution service and does not submit or publish your book to Amazon KDP, Apple Books, Barnes & Noble, or another retailer on your behalf. You decide whether, where, and how to publish or sell the files.
Output quality, accuracy, length, originality, and suitability depend on your instructions, source materials, model behavior, and other factors. We do not guarantee sales, rankings, retailer acceptance, or a particular commercial outcome.
Eligibility and Account Security
You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of legal majority where you live if higher, to create an account and use BookSpace. You agree to provide accurate and current information and to keep your account details updated.
You are responsible for protecting your credentials and for activity under your account. Do not share credentials or attempt to access another user's account. Notify us promptly through the Contact Center, support email (support@bookspace.ai), or security email (security@bookspace.ai) if you suspect unauthorized access.
User Content, Output, and Intellectual Property
A. Materials you provide
You retain the rights you hold in text, files, images, notes, outlines, and other materials you upload or submit (“User Content”). You represent that you have the rights and permissions needed to submit the User Content and allow us to process it to provide the service.
B. Output created for you
As between you and BookSpace, BookSpace assigns to you any rights it may hold in the specific output generated for you (“Output”), to the extent such rights are assignable under applicable law. Copyright protection for AI-assisted or AI-generated material varies by jurisdiction and by the human contribution involved. We do not guarantee that Output is copyrightable, registrable, exclusive, or enforceable against third parties.
C. Limited service license
You grant BookSpace a limited, non-exclusive license to host, reproduce, transmit, process, and modify User Content and Output only as reasonably necessary to provide, secure, support, and improve the service as described in our Privacy Policy and to comply with law. We will not claim ownership of your manuscript by virtue of this license. Retention and deletion are subject to the Privacy Policy and legal obligations.
D. BookSpace intellectual property
BookSpace and its licensors retain rights in the platform, software, branding, interface, templates, and underlying systems, excluding User Content and Output as described above. Except where law permits or we give written permission, you may not copy, resell, reverse engineer, or use our platform to build a competing service.
AI Output and Your Responsibilities
AI systems may produce inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, or misleading material, including fabricated references or wording similar to existing works. Before relying on or publishing Output, you agree to:
- review and fact-check important claims, citations, names, dates, quotations, and statistics;
- check whether Output is suitable and sufficiently original for your intended use;
- comply with applicable law and the rules of any retailer, publisher, or distribution platform;
- respect intellectual-property, privacy, publicity, and other third-party rights; and
- obtain qualified professional review before relying on content that could materially affect medical, legal, financial, safety, or other high-stakes decisions.
You remain responsible for the final content you publish, distribute, or sell.
Plans, Credits, Subscriptions, and Payments
A. Pricing and plan details
Available plans, features, prices, credit allowances, and billing intervals are displayed on the relevant pricing or checkout page. The checkout description applicable to your purchase forms part of the purchase information. We may change future prices or plan features with appropriate notice where required by law.
B. Credit reservation and use
BookSpace may reserve credits when a production job begins and deduct or commit them according to the job's status and the credit rules displayed in the product. If a verified platform error causes an incorrect deduction, contact billing (billing@bookspace.ai) or support (support@bookspace.ai); we will investigate and, where appropriate, restore credits or make another reasonable correction.
C. Rollover and expiry
Credit rollover, expiry, and cancellation rules are those clearly displayed for the applicable plan at the time of purchase.
D. Checkout providers and merchant of record
Payments are processed by independent third-party payment providers. The provider handling your transaction is identified at checkout and on your receipt. The applicable provider processes payment under its own terms and privacy policy.
Depending on your transaction and location, the external payment provider acts as the Merchant of Record or contractual reseller. In that role, the provider processes payment, issues the receipt or tax invoice, collects and remits applicable indirect taxes and VAT, and handles payment-related refund execution under its buyer terms.
BookSpace does not collect, receive, or store full payment card numbers or card security codes. Prices, applicable taxes, currency, and billing intervals are displayed at checkout.
E. Automatic renewals and cancellation
If a plan is a subscription, it renews automatically at the interval shown at checkout until cancelled. You may cancel using the account controls provided or the subscription-management route in your receipt, where available. Cancellation normally stops future renewals; it does not by itself refund a payment already made. Your access continues for the paid period unless the checkout terms or applicable law provide otherwise.
If a renewal payment fails, the provider or BookSpace may retry payment or restrict subscription benefits until the issue is resolved, subject to applicable law. If a price change affects a future renewal, we will provide notice where required and explain how to cancel before the new price applies.
Refunds and Consumer Rights
Refund requests are handled under our Refund Policy, the applicable checkout provider's procedures and buyer terms, and mandatory consumer-protection law. Refund eligibility may depend on the purchase, service delivery, technical issues, and applicable legal requirements.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits a consumer right that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. Where a checkout provider must process the payment or refund, the refund will be handled through the applicable provider's process.
Acceptable Use
You must not use BookSpace to:
- violate applicable law or infringe another person's intellectual-property, privacy, or other rights;
- create or distribute unlawful content, exploitative content involving minors, threats, targeted harassment, or defamatory material;
- deliberately present fabricated claims, credentials, reviews, or references as genuine in order to deceive;
- upload malware, compromise security, disrupt the service, or access systems without authorization;
- scrape or automate access in a manner that violates our rules, bypass usage limits, abuse credits, or resell access without permission; or
- abuse refunds, make knowingly false payment disputes, or engage in fraudulent activity.
We may refuse, suspend, or stop a project that reasonably appears to violate these Terms, applicable law, or a provider's applicable rules. Any refund or remedy will be assessed under the Refund Policy and applicable law.
Third-Party Services
BookSpace depends on third-party providers, which may include AI model providers, hosting and storage providers, email services, and checkout providers. Their services are subject to their own terms and privacy notices. We are not responsible for an independent provider's systems or policies, but these Terms do not remove BookSpace's own obligations to provide the BookSpace service as described.
For questions about a payment, invoice, tax, payment method, or a charge appearing on your statement, contact the checkout provider identified on your receipt as well as BookSpace where appropriate.
Orders, Revisions, and Delivery
A project begins when you submit a brief or otherwise confirm the project parameters shown in the workspace. Available file formats and revision allowances are those described in the product or plan at the time of purchase. Formats may include DOCX, PDF, EPUB, and LaTeX where supported; do not assume a format is included unless it is shown as available.
Revisions may be limited by your plan or the credits shown in the product. Substantial changes or new production runs may require additional credits. Delivery estimates are not guarantees.
Copyright Complaints
If you believe content made available through BookSpace infringes your copyright, contact legal@bookspace.ai with sufficient information to identify the copyrighted work, the allegedly infringing material, your contact details, and the basis for your claim. Include a statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is unauthorized and that your notice is accurate. We may request further information and take action where appropriate under applicable law. Do not describe BookSpace as having a designated statutory agent in a jurisdiction unless that designation has actually been made and maintained.
Suspension and Termination
You may stop using BookSpace at any time and may cancel a subscription or request account deletion using available account controls or by contacting support (support@bookspace.ai).
We may suspend or terminate access where reasonably necessary because of a material breach of these Terms, fraud or security risk, non-payment, a legal requirement, or a provider requirement affecting the service. Where practical and lawful, we will provide notice and an opportunity to resolve the issue. Termination does not remove any refund or consumer rights that apply under law or the Refund Policy.
Effect of Termination and Data Retention
After termination, access to the workspace may end. Download files you wish to keep before deleting your account where downloads remain available. Handling and deletion of User Content and Output are governed by the Privacy Policy, including applicable retention and legal requirements. Checkout providers may retain their own transaction records.
Provisions that by their nature should survive termination, including intellectual-property provisions, disclaimers, liability limits, indemnification, and dispute provisions, continue to apply to the extent permitted by law.
Disclaimers
To the extent permitted by law, BookSpace is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that AI-generated content will be accurate, complete, original, or suitable for a particular purpose. We do not promise a particular publishing, financial, or commercial result.
Nothing in these Terms excludes a warranty, remedy, or consumer protection that applicable law does not allow us to exclude.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, BookSpace will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive losses, or for loss of profits, goodwill, or data, arising from use of the service where such exclusion is lawful.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, BookSpace's aggregate liability for claims relating to the service will not exceed the amount you paid directly for the relevant service during the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, or USD 100 if you made no such payment. This limit does not apply to liability that cannot legally be limited, including any mandatory consumer rights or liability for fraud where applicable law prohibits limitation.
Indemnification
To the extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to be responsible for third-party claims and reasonable costs arising from your unlawful use of BookSpace, your material breach of these Terms, or User Content you submit that infringes third-party rights. This section does not require you to indemnify BookSpace for our own unlawful conduct or for liability that cannot legally be shifted to you.
Governing Law and Disputes
Please contact legal@bookspace.ai first with a description of any dispute so we can attempt to resolve it informally.
These Terms and any dispute arising out of or related to BookSpace will be governed by applicable law without regard to conflict of law principles, and resolved in the competent courts having jurisdiction.
Nothing in this section prevents consumers from using courts or protections that mandatory law makes available to them. Payment disputes may also be raised through the checkout provider identified on the receipt.
Changes and Contact
We may update these Terms as the service, providers, or legal requirements change. We will post the revised version and update the date above. Where required, we will give notice before material changes take effect.
